Sailing In Poland - I International Yacht Racing

12-14 September 2008

 

From 12 to 14 September 2008 in Dabrowa Górnicza (Silesia, Poland) group of friends from Yacht Club of Poland London and from few branch of the Club in Poland meet a friends from USA, Canada, Slovakia and Ukraine. Members of Yacht Club of Poland had good opportunity for share experience of sailing and organize of watersport with people from other Polish sailing clubs around The World.

Mayor of Dabrowa Gornicza Town Mr. Zbigniew Podraza was a very happy and friendly the same like his companions from Town Hall of Dabrowa Gornicza. They are very busy and hard workers. They would like to promote the town as alternative for The Masuria District – most popular sailings region in Poland.

 

The event in Dabrowa Gornicza was cover three excellent days. On Friday we was welcome in Fregata Club Watersport Centre and they given us keys for ours caravans on situated close to the Club caravan’s camp Catamaran. To this place organizer provided transport by car which was very helpful after my capsize on Omega – most popular in Poland dinghy class yacht. Water was little bit cold but fortunately this accident has been placed close to Fregata’s marine. All my friend was laugh and this was very good experience for me (my first capsize on Omega dinghy) Fortunately my capsize was only one by the three days. Friday evening Mayor of Town Zbigniew Podraza to welcome us on traditional Polish dinner with a lot meat, smoked sausage, bacon and … strong, Polish drink. That was very nice, long evening.

 

 

 

 

Saturday was a sport’s day. On morning all members of Pogoria’s sailings clubs and all guests come to Fregata to official meeting. Visitors, Mayor of Sosnowiec Town Kazimierz Górski and Mirosława  Śliwińska from Euro Parliament was very happy when they saw people from many countries. Juror of racing’s Mr. Marian Piecha explain us details of race. About 11.00 a.m. was start to race. The racing, during one day was really exciting. End of the day all winners was thrower to water. Later winners and losers, all together with visitors, was sing seasongs with band Bez Paniki and The Smugglers.

Sunday was a day when, after breakfast, some of our friends come back to they countries, flying from close to Dabrowa Gornicza airport Katowice-Pyrzowice. People who can stay longer was taken to short journey around Dabrowa Gornicza City. This was very good opportunity to know the county and planning holidays with family. Dabrowa Gornicza is not only three lakes where you can be close to nature. This is also future! Pogoria 4 – new lake which was established in 2005 (project of ecological development in Siliesia area) - is nearly finished. Now City is look for developers and private investors for create new image of Dabrowa Gornicza.

We was very proud to organized and participation of the project Sailing in Poland in Dabrowa Gornicza. We hope, that next year we can visit Dabrowa Gornicza again and maybe also other, attractive region in Poland.
